The brief was to inspect the water temperatures at various points adjacent to water outlets that were going directly into Corio Bay. A special sensor was tied to the drone and lowered into the water at specific points.
The drone had special temperature sensor attached and we were required to lower the sensor (the orange device)into the water as far as the white flotation marker. This was to ensure the temperature was taken at consistent depths. The drone was flown up to 500m out to sea in an arc at various distances for accurate measurements. However addition temperature reading can be taken from the remote control directly.
The drone is hovering above the water with the sensor below on a 10m lead.
When viewing a thermal image on the Drone’s remote control (RC), it is possible to check the temperature at any particular point. Just tap on the RC screen and the temperature will be displayed. Click on the images above to see the temperature of the water in different positions in and around the drain outlet.
